From Vittorio.Palladino@na.infn.it Wed Oct 24 11:40:49 2001 Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2001 15:08:58 +0200 (MET DST) From: Vittorio PalladinoTo: muon-cooling@rl.ac.uk Cc: torun@iit.edu Subject: Parallel meeting on Detectors for the Muon Cooling Demonstration Experiment Dear Colleagues, our next meeeting of the task force on detectors will take place as anticipated on Friday, during the Workshop. WE should review the status of our studies and plan the final editing of our chapter of the proposal, due mid November. I propose that Speakers that are members of the European task force report the basics of their design as reported to previous meeting (enough to inform people in the audience that have who participated to those) and news and updates that they have since. Talks could be short & sharp, 15' at most. More, of course, if really needed, please let me know. D. Summers should take a little more time to present to us his fresh material on PID, upstream and downstream. Jean Michel Rey and Claude Petitjean, convenors of two of the other task forces, will be with us part time to illustrate the areas of common interest and be ready to answer questions. I have not scheduled a talk of Patrick Janot (he will give one on simulation on Thu morning) but he will be with us for the general discussion. All speakers should rise at the meeting (or before!) all the points they judge most worth of a collective discussion, both immediately or at some later date, after further work. The agenda is proposed to be: Fri October 26 9:00-12:30 Bdg 6-2-006(PS Auditorium) ----------------------------------------------------- V. Palladino Introductory remarks (5') V. Palladino Ultra precise TOF (on behalf of A. Bross 5' or so) M. Mezzetto Trigger+TOF+ beam PID with scintillators (15') E. McKigney Fiber trackers (15') M. Apollonio Fiber trackers (on behalf of A. Bross, 5' or so) P. Jarron Silicon macropixel 2D trackers (15') J. Rey Answers to questions on the solenoids (as needed) coffee break at about 10:30 S. Tzamarias/G.Santin Muon-electron separation: Cerenkov (15') L. Tortora Muon-electron separation: Spaghetti(15') D. Summers Cerenkov PID (25') E. Radicioni Read-out and DAQ (15') C. Petitjean Answers to questions on PSI beam (as needed) All Discussion, organization of work (*) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (*)We have also to organize our report to the Plenary Session on Saturday. You have noticed that the in the Workshop agenda it is tentatively split at the moment in 4 parts. We should select some of us to give each one of these subreports. A pool of potential speakers is listed, who volunteers? 1) Beam particle ID (D. Summers, M. Mezzetto .... 2) Tracking (E. Mckigney, M. Apollonio, P. Gruber, ... 3) particle ID (D. Summers, G. Santin, S. Tzamarias, .... 4) Running in scenario for the cooling experiment (P. Gruber, M. Castellano,... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NB Pierre Jarron both a very busy morning, we may have to anticipate his talk.
